Back to Life Like a Zombie

Bringing all my new pieces on board. Since my recent move back down to LA, I've had art scattered all over the house, missing film strips, a regular mess. So with pieces getting hung and getting ready for sale and film being sent out to get extra love in developing, that along with some digial will be popping up on the site in a few days as of TODAY.

I've been doing so much freelance work on my "days off" from my 9-5 that I've been slacking, and slacking no more. Be prepared for some awesome stuff to start hitting the shelves, and always remember, prints can be made of originals.

Also look for me for one of the few faces of ROXY SNOW 12/13! Your girl modeled some gear and did a short interview on the life of riding as a girl. Snow or skate, I'll take my bruises, man my legs look terrible this summer from the cracks in the LA sidewalks, haha. Sure hasn't helped my broken ribs from the past season. LIVE YOUR LIFE!

Off to AGENDA in Long Beach, if you're there, say hi.

UPDATE for UPDATE SAKE

Posted by brooke on December 1, 2011 at 10:30 PM Comments comments (0)

Haven't updated this blog in too long.

I'm trying to get new things going and start some new projects.

1. Making prints of artwork - all you have to do is message me with the art that you're interested in having a print of, the size you'd like, and ta-da. It can be prints of paintings or even some of my photography. Price is extremely resasonable, it all depends on the type of paper you'd like it printed on and size. It's VERY exciting, especially if you can't afford an original.

2. I will be having an art show coming up soon, so a lot more pieces are going to start popping up. KEEP A LOOK OUT! I'll also be posting when and were, be there or be square.

3. My Wizard Of Oz skate decks are still in the works, but taking forever. It seems that I'm all the sudden a huge perfectionist.

4. Working on a piece for a friend, Kurt, to hang and possibly sell out of his house. It is something a bit different, but streching my talent to go beyond just zombies and blood. It's an awesome idea, will be posted soon. Mostly because Kurt's been on my ass about getting it done.

NEW!!!!!

Got new pieces up in the "PRODUCTS" area, check them out!

Soon I should have some more pieces put up, a lot of personal pieces will be put up soon and I'll start a new page dedicated to tattoo work I'm starting. For those of you who don't know, I'm currently apprenticing tattooing under Lindsey Jackson. It'll be some time before someone goes under my machine, but I'm already starting to draw up tattoos for people and have them get them done. Getting my art going, that's for sure! Very exciting things in the future! Make sure you keep checking in!!!!

Also, the EAT YOUR ART OUT IV show was a hit, my piece sold! and I had a great time. You can see the photos from the show on the HOME page. They're thinking of possibly having another show at Meltdown Comics this August. Can't wait if that happens. If not, I'll be back next year.

Just a quick update, but I'm getting my ass in gear and I'll be pumping out a lot more work and keep posting as long as people stay interested.

Everything

What's the haps? Took some time off and had some major work to actually show up for. Pretty much threw me off track and into a funk, so now I'm hoping to get back on track and scrape the funk off.

I took a trip over the pool to Denmark and Sweden for the holidays, and had some fun but also did a bit of work. I managed to get some great photography shots over there, just messing around and get some good ideas on projects for the future. Pretty excited about it, and now that the holiday rush has seemed to have died down in my town, I'll be able to get back to my art and center myself once again. I was quite inspired by Mads' friend Myra, she is an amazing artist from Sweden I stayed with for a night. I should try to find her website and link it up. Her paintings are unbelievable and blow me away at the sheer detail to detail! But she gave me a few good ideas to think of and I have some new ideas that I'd like to use. Also some of the shots I got while over there I hope to get up soon, I'm not sure what the deal is with uploading at the moment, but by the end of the week I should have them in "Personal Works" to take a gander through.

Also, in trying to update my store and my personal works area, i noticed that my hard drive has dumped on me. i usually keep all my photos organized in iphoto, and it crapped on me. Literally "tossing" out 2 years of photos. It might take longer than I want to get back, but it looks like I should have some free time this week. Hope this snow stays snowing, because I've turned into such a fair weather snowboarder, right now I'd rather get shit done than bother myself with riding in bad weather.

Its just about time for the EAT YOUR ART OUT and LOS ANGELES WOMENS ROLLER DERBY FUNDRAISER is coming up verrrrrry soon. I had this whole idea that I have been running with and decided yesterday to completely scratch and start all over. Pretty much ruining a huge canvas, giving it the middle finger and decided to do a smaller piece with a better idea. I don't want to give it away, but I'm even more excited about it than I was with my first idea. Only thing is, I pretty much fucked myself and I have a limited amount of time left to get this shit finished. I know if i focus I can power this shit out. So that combined with getting this website is my plans for the next 2 weeks.

I really want to make all this happen, and I need to stay up on myself and this site. I feel like a 1 2 3 BREAK! would be a good way to end this, but I won't.

Angel City Derby Girls Fundraiser

Posted by brooke on September 16, 2010 at 5:14 PM Comments comments (0)

So I get a call from my friend Martine the other day, who skates for the Angel City Derby Girls and has a proposition for me. She said that the league and perhaps some others are having a fundraiser and they get local artist to donate pieces of art and they get auctioned off. She said she'd been talking me up and they want me to donate one of my art pieces! I feel quite honored that I get to submit my work in and have it be apart of the fundraiser, means a whole lot to me, and MUCHO THANX to my darling Martine for being such a good and supportive friend to get me there. So I have until February to think of the best idea possible, and make it undeniably amazing so that it can get auctioned off at a high price and make these girls some money! I have a few ideas in the mix, and plan to get started soon. I would do anything to support my girls!

Check out the girls at ANGEL CITY DERBY GIRLS!

Business Cards

Posted by brooke on September 16, 2010 at 5:11 PM Comments comments (0)

Just got my business cards in the mail today! WOOO! Such excitement in something so small. I put them all around town and still have a huge deck for myself. Hopefully they spawn some action, and get the word around about my website. Did however notice that I should have put information on the back, even though it was more expensive, I got a lot of questions about what kind of art it is and about custom pieces and such. Well, know better for next round? This is just a trial.

I appreciate all the support I've been getting from friends and family, and soon YOU!

Shoes!

Posted by brooke on September 8, 2010 at 12:58 PM Comments comments (0)

Just painted some shoes, just some inexpensive ones from town that I can easily get. Think its a good way to show some more diveristy on the site. I've been drawing on shoes since middle school, made a few for friends here and there, why not add them to the collection?

So here's the deal, they turned out rad, but I'm not sure if they are exactly what I am looking for. I'm going to put them on the site as prodotypes and see how they do. Obvioulys I can recreate these shoes easily enough, and since I can get shoes in town, I can do them timely. So these will be significantly cheaper. BUT! if someone wanted a pair of VANS shoes, perferably slip on but Authentics will work, they can submit that as a CUSTOM ORDER. They'll take longer because there isn't a VANS store in town, though I could get them through a local store hopefully on special order, or I'll have to buy them online, unless I take a magical trip to Reno and pick up a pair. SO LET ME KNOW! VANS are a lot easier to work with, though they would be more expensive and timely, but I can do them on local cheaper shoes. And if GUYS out there, are looking for some shoe action, drop it in as a suggestion because it's harder for me to get rid of men's shoes than women's, because every women in the world has the same size feet, I swear. Because my size is always out.

I'll get the shoes up in the Products section later today, I have Psychology class in an hour and I have 2 chapters I need to read, STAT.
